1: WHAT IS THE OFF ROAD SCHOOL, AND WHAT IS TRAIL RIDING?
Our off road school is for those that are new to off road riding. I teach you the basics of riding off road, and we specialise in helping those that have little or no off road experience. Trail riding is basically off-road riding on un-made roads and tracks that are open to the public. As far as the law is concerned, you are riding on public roads, although you don’t see many other vehicles when you are on the trail riding because most routes are not passable in your average vehicle. The experience is very different to road riding, but it is a huge amount of fun, and because the speeds are low, when you inevitably fall off, serious injuries are rare. However you must understand that Trail Riding in Spain, is itself very different from UK & northern Europe. The terrain here is mountainous and the mountains really are rock, and sold. Therefore always take care, and wear all the protective clothing.
You need to know where you are going, because it is an offence to ride on footpaths & bridle ways, and when you are out on the trails, a footpath that you are not allowed on can look just the same as a byway that you are allowed on.
The laws in Spain are more or less the same as in the UK.
We are not a training camp for experienced enduro or motocross riders.
2. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
Passport.
Full UK Motorcycle License.
Sun Cream.
Sense of Humor
Requirements to take Part:
3. WHAT ABOUT FUEL?
If you are using one of our bikes, we take care of that (fuel is included in the price you pay for the day). If you bring your own bikes we also include the price of fuel for 150 KM per day. As there are few fuel stations around.
4. IS FOOD & DRINK AVAILABLE?
All Food and Soft drinks are included in all our tours, you are based at my villa in the mountains and all our Trail Riding start and finish there, you stay at the villa overnight. We include such things as water, High Energy snack bars, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
NO ONE ELSE INCLUDES ALL MEALS!
We DO NOT include Alcoholic beverages.
Dependant upon what we are doing in the day, we either return to the villa for lunch or eat out.
5. HOW MUCH RIDING TIME WILL I GET?
It depends on your experience level and ability. It will be as much as you can cope with, and you will be pretty exhausted at the end of the day! It can be as much as 6 / 8 hours in the saddle for experienced riders, but less if you are feeling tired… We tailor the day to your ability, and you will get as much riding time as you want.
If we ride either with a couple of friends or with another individual, we all ride at the speed and ability of the slowest member.
I have yet to find anyone who is not satisfied with the Terrain or the hours out and about. It is not about the fastest, covering the most ground, for me it is you having a Great Challenging & Fun Filled Day.
However I make that decision, if I feel you are not coping well, I will cut short the time, on the trails until you can cope with it.
We don’t want accidents or you taking on more than is safe.
6. HOW DO I GET SOME TUITION OR ADVICE?
If you have not ridden off road before, that is not a problem, that is what I am here for! I will show you how and give you as much time as you need, to practice. I do not take Learners out. You must have a FULL UK Motorbike Driving Licence. Which means that you have riding experience. You will find that Trail Riding, although very different to Road riding, is not really that difficult, just remember to be careful and ride within your abilities.
The more time you actually spend out and about on the Trails the more confident and comfortable you will become and enjoy you time. When Trail Riding…Just ask, it’s as easy as that!
7. WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?
All our Bikes are coved by 3 rd Party Insurance to make them legal to ride on the road. You are not covered by our insurance for any damage you do to yourself or others while riding (everyone rides at their own risk), so we strongly recommend that you obtain personal accident & liability insurance.
We can arrange insurance Cover for you via our agent in the UK.
Cover includes medical & emergency expenses including rescue, personal accident, personal liability, activity equipment & legal expenses.
8. WHAT ABOUT TYRES?
If you are using one of our bikes, we take care of all that (it’s all included in the price you pay for the day). If you are using your own bike, you must ensure that it is in good order, for the activities that you are undertaking. If you need tyres etc we can organise this for you.
9. WHAT IF I CRASH?
It goes without saying that safety is my priority everyday, but incidents do happen, and I would be less than truthful (economical with the truth – as our American Cousins would say) if I said they didn’t. But serious incidents are much less frequent than you might imagine, and the secret is to take a sensible and measured approach to each riding session, don’t do more than you can!! Listen to what you are told in the briefing, and try to put it into practice. Remember that there is only one person controlling the throttle, and the throttle works both ways. If you do fall off, bear in mind that the speeds you do off road are relatively low (20mph can feel really fast off road), if you do come off lay the bike down don’t throw it down. For the most part, the only injury will be to your pride.
10. WHAT SORT OF RIDERS DO YOU TAKE OUT?
We have all types of people, from Off Road novices, to those with some off road experience to those, who are experts off road. Some riders come to learn, and practice off road Trail Riding, some come to try out a different bike on a different Trail. I take riders out to have a Great Day & Challenging day, Experience something new, and have FUN!
I do not take out Learners, you MUST have a Full UK Motorbike Driving License.
11. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE IN EACH GROUP?
My whole ethos is One to One & Personal Tuition. If you come alone we ride together, if you have a friend or 2 and you all want to make up a group we all ride together. I ride with a maximum of 3 clients.
12. WHAT IS THE ITINERARY FOR THE EVENT?
I don’t really have an itinerary as such, we make the days up as you want. Personal and Private Tuition and attention; that is what I am all about.
We are out by 10am, ride till lunch. Then depending upon each individual person, we go out again in the afternoon, or even into the evening.
13. WHERE AND WHEN ARE THESE EVENTS HELD?
My villa is based in the Mountains near to Malaga, Costa Del Sol, Southern Spain. We ride the Trails, of which there are hundreds of miles. Go in to the local National Parks and up in to the Sierra’s; Mountains more than you can ever cover.
14. HOW DO I BOOK, AND WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL?
See BOOKING and TERMS & CONDITIONS for details.
